PaintsVille Art Cafe sits comfortably on the Esplanade in Paynesville, offering a relaxed spot where locals and visitors come together over coffee, simple meals, and a laid-back atmosphere. It’s more than just a coffee shop — it blends the casual vibes of a neighbourhood cafe with a subtle touch of Vietnamese cuisine, reflecting a unique fusion rare in this coastal town.

Visitors can expect a range of seating options—from the shaded courtyard out back, which catches the afternoon sun nicely, to the tables out front where you can watch the water and the quiet hum of the Esplanade. This variety makes it a versatile spot, whether you want a quiet coffee solo, a casual catch-up with friends, or a relaxed lunch.

The coffee here is a highlight for many. Locals appreciate the variety from cappuccinos and skinny lattes to a standout skinny latte carefully made to order. Their cabinet of sweet and savory options also draws regulars—items like chocolate brownies and apple pies sit alongside unique offerings such as traditional Vietnamese pho and bánh mì rolls, hinting at the owner’s connections to Vietnam and offering a little something different from typical café fare.

PaintsVille tends to attract a diverse crowd. Early risers appreciate the vege big breakfast or bacon and eggs on weekends, while families seem to enjoy the kids’ pancake portions—as confirmed by parents looking for comfort food that feels homemade and generous. Midday visitors might lean into the Vietnamese flavors, enjoying pho or pork bánh mì, which locals often comment on for their authenticity and flavour.

Parking can be convenient for those on two wheels, with a dedicated motorcycle parking area, and the friendly staff are a consistent draw, known locally for their welcoming approach and helpful service. The cafe’s functionality as a tourist information centre adds a practical layer, making it a natural stop for visitors wanting both good coffee and local insights.

Overall, PaintsVille Art Cafe is the kind of place where the details matter: the balance of café classics with cultural influences, the thoughtful layout of indoor and outdoor spaces, and a rhythm that fits well with Paynesville’s easy pace. It’s suited for those who like their coffee with a side of local character, served in a calm, unpretentious setting where you can take your time—whether that’s catching a sunrise breakfast or an afternoon coffee break by the waterfront.

We ordered a large variety of dishes from Paintsville and were impressed with every single one of them. We tried a mix of breakfast favourites — the adult serving of pancakes with their beautiful berry compote on top was phenomenal. The pancakes were exactly what pancakes should be: soft, fluffy, and full of flavour. The kids’ serving of pancakes was also a great portion size and just as delicious. We also had the big breakfast, which was presented beautifully and incredibly generous for the price. The smashed avocado with bacon was another standout — the portion was excellent, with plenty of avocado spread across both slices of bread (not just one!), and it even came with a lemon wedge to squeeze over the top — such a nice touch. From their front window display, we couldn’t resist grabbing a few of their homemade cakes and treats. We tried the orange flourless cake, Malteser balls, and a homemade muffin — everything was absolutely lovely. We were eyeing off their passionfruit sponge, which looked divine, and we’ll definitely be trying that next time. The service was even lovelier than the food — warm, friendly, and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the bathrooms were clean and easy to access. All in all, Paintsville is a fantastic spot that clearly takes pride in both their food and their service. We’ll definitely be back!

This is no doubt one of the best cafes we have ever been to! Coffee and food were delicious - it's like a Homemade meal by mum. The atmosphere is simple and cosy, their cabinet has the most stunning range of food, and lovely gluten free options. Also the prices were super reasonable! We have been to HEAPS of cafes that preach quality, but are always disappointing and use marketing and aesthetics to charge ridiculous prices - BUT NOT THESE GUYS THEY ARE AMAZING! Exactly what you want in a Cafe

We love Paintsville and feel very lucky to have it as our local. I regularly go there and I'm always happy with the service , cleanliness, food and coffee. With the recent changes it works even better for sitting in. They have a lovely court yard area out the back where you can catch the suns rays on a nice day. They also have several tables out the front overlooking the water and where you'll usually find someone who's up for a chat if you feel like it or just take in the peacefulness of Paynesville Esplanade.

Great food and excellent service! Stopped in here recently and was surprised to find some great Vietnamese favourites on their menu! We ordered the Beef Pho and the Pork Bahn Mi and both were really delicious! After chatting to the owner it turns out there is a connection to Vietnam which is evident with how authentic these dishes tasted! After an amazing lunch and with full bellies, we could not walk past the treats in the window and after much deliberation (they seriously ALL looked amazing!) we chose the Chocolate Brownie and Apple Pie. Happy say that they did not disappoint either!! Would definitely recommend stopping in to this cafe for lunch / afternoon tea / just about any reason will do!

Paintsville on a Sunday morning was less congested than 3double8zero and I was happy with the result. The food was not trendy/fancy and that suited our group of 5. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The place itself was aesthetically pleasing with assorted artworks on the walls - all for sale to art lovers. Recommend this place
